How it works
How rankings work
Soccer 775 rankings — our ratings, not official league standings. League tables show who leads a league; our rankings estimate how strong teams and clubs are from their results.
POWER RTG
Power Rtg is our team strength rating: every team starts at 1500, wins raise it and losses lower it, beating stronger teams counts for more, and 1500 is average.
Teams in stronger leagues get a head start above 1500. Each recorded score moves the Power Rtg: beating a stronger team moves you up more than beating a weaker one. Big wins count a bit more, but goal margin is capped so blowouts don’t dominate. Higher is stronger.
League level first
Teams are grouped by league level first (e.g. every NorCal Gold team ranks above every Silver team), then ordered by Power Rtg within each level. Levels, strongest first: ECNL RL, National One, NorCal Premier, NorCal Gold / GBYSL Select Gold, NorCal Silver / GBYSL Select Silver, Bronze, NNSL Youth.
Club rankings
A club’s Power Rtg is the average of its top 2 team Power Rtg values in each age group. Age groups where the club has no results count as 1400, which pulls the average down. Lower squads beyond the top 2 don’t count. Boards: Overall, Boys, Girls, U8–U10, U11/U12, U13+.
Movement arrows
Each week we save every board’s order. An arrow next to a team or club shows how many places it moved since the previous saved week: ▲ up, ▼ down, – no change, “New” = new to the board. No marker means there is no earlier week to compare yet.
High school rankings work the same way in spirit: every game with a recorded score counts, starting from a classification baseline (5A highest). See club rankings →
